Powersurge: Powersurge was my entry for the VALVe Death Match contest. I did not know that I was going up against professional level designers, but it truly prepared me for the real world. This level may look good to the eye, but had some design flaws that I later picked up on and used as a learning experience. When this level was in development I had one of the biggest threads on the Steam Powered Death Match forums, that explained and showed my progress from beginning to end. The most interesting aspects of this level is how large and open the whole environment is, the first use of a physics trap in a level I have worked on, and finally the understanding of atmosphere. Sounds, lighting, fog, everything was put into this level to really try to make the player feel captured by the surrounding environment.
